Raymond Bellavance junior is asking Maine's highest court for a new trial because of what his lawyer calls errors, including denial of a fair trial and violation of due process rights. Prosecutors say there's no evidence to suggest the trial was unfair.
Bellavance was convicted in December of 2011 of burning down the grand view coffee shop. Prosecutors say he was angry because his girlfriend, a waitress, was dating the owner.
