Angus King makes his Washington debut as Maine's senator-elect.
The independent is meeting with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle this week to help him decide which party to caucus with.
In just a few weeks, Angus King will replace outgoing Senator Olympia Snowe. The two met on Capitol Hill on Monday.
The senior senator says they had a quote, "wonderful meeting," and discussed a wide-range of issues, including King's transistion.
As an independent, King has not said which party he'll align with. Regardless of that decision, he said he will not cast his future votes along party lines. Snowe says that bipartisan approach is right on target.
On Tuesday, King is expected to meet with Maine's junior senator, Susan Collins. Collins says they plan to discuss coordinating committee assignments to best protect the interest of Mainers.
