Bethany Hanley, Greely PTO When you feel a tragedy I think that you want to feel what's in your life is feeling in control to a certain extent and so I think that voicing those concerns about safety and security at this time are very natural.
The school system has already made a few changes. They're locking all doors except for the ones at the main entrance so they can better control who comes in and out. They'll take that one step further and install card readers so the only way to get in is with an electronic key.
Kim Brandt, Greely Middle School Principal: It's an added measure and it will allow us to know with more accuracy who is in which building at which times.
Greely Middle School principal Kim Brandt and the principals at the other schools in the district will share these ideas with parents. They're hoping the added measures, and an open discussion can ease fears parents still have after the Newtown Shooting.
Hanley: As much as it doesn't stop a violent incident like that I think it really helps people feel like as many deterrents as you can create that's a positive addition.
Additional ideas are what school administrators are hoping parents bring to the meeting.
