Just to our south someone in Manchester, New Hampshire has been diagnosed with the illness and has since recovered. It's the first human case of West Nile in New Hampshire in two years. Manchester officials have started mosquito spraying because of the diagnosis.
Doctors urge everyone to take precautions. There have been 41 deaths nationwide this year. Symptoms are severe headache, high fever, stiff neck and muscle weakness
The CDC says this summer's outbreak of the West Nile virus across the country is the worst since the virus was first detected in humans in the United States back in 1999. Humans aren't the only one at risk, horses can also get the disease. We spoke with a veterinarian who tells us there is a way to protect horses. Unlike for humans, there is a West Nile vaccine for the animals.
