The group, calling itself Maine Alliance for the Common Good, is hoping the legislature will work toward things like getting money out of politics and working on a budget that helps everyone.
The protesters also demonstrated against a planned East West Highway that would stretch across the state of Maine, saying it would disrupt rural living across the state. Supporters of the highway say it will bring more money into Maine.
