People at the impound lot usually aren't the happiest. There are a bunch of cars here and if you're parked in that yellow zone, your car will be one of them come Tuesday morning. Crews are having a tough enough time as it is to clear snow and if your car is in the way you can bet it will be towed to make room for the plows.
Road crews have been working around the clock for days now, but with a record 31.5 inches of snow in Portland, they're having a tough time finding a place to put it all. Thankfully, we found some residents lending a hand, shoveling out fire hydrants and snowblowing driveways and sidewalks. The city is asking anyone who has some time, and a shovel, to pitch in.
Kevin Thomas, Portland public services: “There’s just no room for the snow that’s what the big problem is, clear sidewalks driveways there is no place to store it not enough room for it.”
Yellow zone parking ban includes all streets and areas in between Cumberland and Commercial Streets and Franklin and State Streets. That goes into effect at 10 p.m. Monday, and while it's pretty annoying not to have a parking space, there's nothing worse than waking up to find your car has been towed.
