Signs are already up all around the Back Cove to inform the thousands of commuters that use that stretch of road of the closure. The city says the sewage upgrades are necessary to keep waste from flowing into the back cove.
Right now, waste and storm water flow through the same pipe and when it rains a lot there is an overflow of sewage into the water.
There is good news for runners and walkers who use the path around the Back Cove. That trail will stay open throughout construction. The project is expected to last 8 months.
