Jill McCollum, customer: "I eat is as much as I can, as often as I can."
If you're looking for the catch of the day, fresh from the ocean, look no further than Free Range Fish and Lobster on Commercial Street in Portland.
Bill Muller, customer: "We like our seafood. You live in Maine, you want to have some fresh seafood."
Like schools of fish themselves, customers move through the store all day. Many of the top sellers here are groundfish.
But, the New England Fishery Management Council, the group that regulates the fishing industry, says there just aren't enough fish to meet the demand. To bring the fish stocks back, on Wednesday they slashed the amount fisherman can catch by a whopping 77%.
So what does this mean for the consumer? The truth is, right now we really don't know. They're waiting on market prices after May 1 when this goes into effect. They predict prices on fish like cod and haddock could potentially double. Prices so high, it could make some of these people re-think what's for dinner.
