Canadian protests of low-priced Maine lobster continued on Tuesday, with 200 Canadian lobstermen threatened to block delivery trucks from dropping off Maine lobsters to plants. They are upset that the plants are buying Maine lobster for lower prices, in turn driving down the price for Canadian lobster.
If trucks are prevented from delivering Maine lobster, then Maine lobstermen lose out even more. Members of Maine's congressional delegation say they're in the middle of talks with Canadian officials, trying to work out a solution.
Governor LePage says he supports Maine lobstermen, and is talking with leaders in New Brunswick. LePage wrote, "I conveyed my concerns about the effects this could have on Maine's fishing industry which provides a mutual benefit for both countries."
