The issue is over Three Sons Lobster and Fish Co. which was given an eviction notice last year because of safety concerns. The owner’s attorney says it’s quite obvious, by looking at the building, which they say has already started to buckle. Despite that the tenant refused to move and launched a last minute effort to stay here, which proved unsuccessful.
The company had been located here for several years. At issue were two large lobster tanks the owner of the pier feels is responsible for damaging the pier. The business' owner, Stuart Norton, denies that claim. The pier's owner gave him an eviction notice late last year when his lease expired.
Attorneys with the Great Main Wharf say they worked with Norton, giving him seven months to find a another location. Norton didn't leave the location and filed bankruptcy, hoping to get the courts to give him bankruptcy protection. But a judge ruled the leasing agreement was under the business name and not Nortons, so Norton's bankruptcy request didn’t apply to the business.
Norton tell us he still has plenty of personal property inside the building, including live lobsters. We're not sure how much he has in there or when he'll be getting his stuff out. But the owners are hoping its sooner rather than later.
