In Freeport, dozens of residents, police and a panel of experts came together Thursday evening to talk about school safety.
The panel included state representatives, a former U.S. attorney and the director of "Boys to Men," who says that too often, young men are taught that violence is the answer.
Residents had mixed views about how to make schools safer, and some came with their own ideas.
The organizer says events like these are important, because it gets the community thinking.
