Crews from more than a dozen towns were called in to help fight this fire. The two people living in the home got out okay. Two vehicles, one parked in the barn, the other in the driveway, were both destroyed. Officials say this could have been much worse if not for the help of departments from all around the region. The flames were so intense crews from surrounding towns could see the fire from more than a mile away as they drove to the scene.
The chief says some of the firefighters suffered some minor heat exhaustion, but all are expected to be ok. Officials believe a lightning strike sparked the flames. A neighbor says the storms were so intense he thought his house was going to be struck.
Two people were home when the fire broke out, they both got out unharmed. The fire marshal's office has been called in to investigate.
