It took all night Thursday and into Friday morning to put out the flames that burnt one of two work garage's here at the Pine Tree Garage in Buxton. But it was an even closer call for one employee who both lives and works here at the garage. The trailer he lives in was just feet from the flames, but was luckily saved.
Crews arrived on scene last night around eight thirty. The three alarm fire took 50 to 60 firefighters to control and some crews were still on scene early Friday morning putting out hot spots and securing the scene. The garage that burned is one of two work spaces on the property. The other garage survived. One man who works at pine tree garage and lives in a trailer only feet from the burning building says the flames narrowly missed his home, and it was a coworker who told him to get out.
Fire officials tell us what caused all of this was a space heater being used here in this garage. Now we spoke to the owner Lee Anderson and he was too upset to go on camera. But he does say there was a lot of equipment here in this workspace and he's unsure at this time what the total cost might be.
The man who lives on the property, Jim Apperti, says a few years ago he was living in a trailer in another town and that burned down. He is very happy that this time he didn't lose his home.
