A quick-thinking babysitter saved two kids - and their dog - from a house fire in Belgrade.
As 17-year-old Amanda Garboski watched the Tozier's two children Monday afternoon, the smoke detectors went off, even though she couldn't see or smell smoke.
"Thinking nothing of it, until I heard a pop and the kitchen filled with smoke," Garboski said.
Garboski checked outside, and she saw flames. She yelled at the kids to get out. They did, and so did the dog. Then, Garboski called 911.
"Extremely proud," said Kevin Tozier, the children's father. "She did exactly what she needed to do."
Once everyone was out safely, they had to sit back and watch the flames destroy almost everything inside the Smithfield Road home the Toziers had just moved into three weeks ago.
"I was glad when i got those kids out. I would've been a wreck if anything had happened to one of them," Garboski said.
The fire's cause is under investigation, but firefighters believe faulty wiring could be to blame.
