WATERVILLE (WGME) -- Thursday, April 4th is the 3rd birthday of missing toddler Ayla Reynolds. It's been over a year since Ayla’s father reported her missing in Waterville, and there’s still no sign of her.
Ayla was last reported missing last December 17, 2011 from a Waterville home where she was staying with her father, his girlfriend and his sister. Authorities did find Ayla's blood at the home, but have not made any arrests or named any suspects in the case. Various searches have not led them to Ayla.
Authorities vow to solve the case even as they continue to say, they believe Ayla is dead. Maine State Police have officially called it the largest criminal investigation in state history.
The lack of answers and progress in finding her has been frustrating for Ayla's family and investigators. State Police say they're continuing to focus their search operations in and around this home. They say they will continue to do so until they find Ayla.
