AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Gov. Paul LePage calls the state house a quote, "daycare," and repeats his threat to veto every single bill until lawmakers approve a plan to repay the state's hospitals.
The governor made those comments Wednesday after he performed an annual Blaine House ritual, tapping a maple tree to kick off the maple sugaring season.
Gov. LePage was asked if he was softening his threat to veto anything and everything that gets to him until the hospitals are repaid the hundreds of millions of dollars the state owes in back Medicaid fees. Democrats immediately expressed disappointment at his words calling it "obstructionist."
Gov. LePage: “Until they pay the hospitals. Nothing gets done. They know it ahead of time. If they want to just use that as a political ball, let 'em use it. But that is stupidity on their part. You know, it's like a daycare over there.”
