KENNEBUNKPORT (WGME) -- Cayenne pepper, olive oil and goat cheese - probably not the first things that come to mind when you think of ice cream, but one woman wants to change the way we think about the summertime staple, and her unique combinations taste a lot like sweet success.

Lauren Guptill moved to Maine from Argentina with an idea for an ice cream shop with what she calls "whimsical" flavors: things like strawberry basil and goat cheese blackberry chamboard.

Guptill never made ice cream before, but found a space and took a course. Just over two years later, crowds clamor to try her concoctions at Rococo in Kennebunkport.

Some of the flavors include sweet avocado cayenne, Nutella cranberry, strawberry basil and spicy rocky road.

In July, Trip Adviser ranked Rococo as the 6th best in the country based on quality, quantity and recent reviews.

Another local shop making national headlines will be featured on the Food Network later this month. The episode of Restaurant Impossible featuring the Uncle Andy's makeover in South Portland will air on August 27.Ice cream shop with exotic flavors ranks 6th in the nation
