13 On Your Side: Massive peanut butter recall
It's a massive recall of tainted peanut butter. What started with a product recall at Trader Joe's has now expanded to certain products at whole foods and target. Now, the family of a four-year-old boy who got sick after eating tainted peanut butter has filed a lawsuit.

It's been a lunchtime staple at the Henson home, peanut butter. But 4 year old Jackson claims he's not a big fan anymore. Back in July, a case of salmonella poisoning linked to Valencia Creamy peanut butter, sold at Trader Joe's left him sick for days.
The Hensons say they were frantic over his condition until it was traced to the peanut butter now part of a nationwide recall. Trader Joe's and the manufacturer are the target of a lawsuit by the family. Their attorney Bill Marler said in a statement: "My client was feeding her family what she believed was a safe product. It's a shame that a staple of nearly every American kid's diet is once again causing illness."
This Massachusetts family hopes to make a statement by taking legal action. It's one of the ways companies get held accountable for the testing of food and the safety of food they produce
Jackson may have warmed up to peanut butter again, but the ordeal was compounded by a new baby home from the hospital and concern Jackson might be contagious. Brandi Henson says they've lost some faith in product safety.
Trader Joe's hasn't yet responded to the lawsuit, seeking money for medical and legal fees - plus, pain and suffering. The centers for disease control reports 35 people have been infected with the outbreak strain of salmonella linked to peanut butter.
240 peanut butter products are now on the expanded recall list. For the complete list of peanut butter products being recalled click here: www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/CORENetwork/ucm320413.htm
