13 On Your Side: Getting the best deals on winter clothes
When the weather gets colder you may start thinking about new, warmer clothes. It's not the strongest season for sales, but News 13's Jon Chrisos is On Your Side with some tips to cut your costs.
Shoppers don't usually think of this stretch between back-to-school deals and holiday shopping, as a prime season to find clothing bargains. But shop smart magazine says certain tricks can help shoppers make their own deals. That starts with signing up for a retailer's email blasts.
They will tell you about special sales, new lines that have come in, and often they'll have a coupons that you can either print out and take with you, or a code that you can use if you're shopping online. So that is the first step, is to sign up for those alerts.
Other ways to prepare for a shopping trip include connecting on Facebook and twitter for sales and special deals. And searching online for coupons and promo codes. Inside stores and the mall, map out this route to find deals.
They're going to be right in front of you when you walk in the store. They're going to have tables and racks that they want you to see. They want to draw you in if you're in a mall. And then from the front, you're going to go right to the back. Because that's where the sale and clearance racks are.
And shoppers who don't find what they're looking for in-store look for the online clearance racks on a store's website, which can be easier to navigate.
