MUSIC: Opera Gala
Thursday, 7 p.m.

This year’s Atlantic Music Festival features another exciting Opera Workshop, headed by acclaimed Wagnerian Carla Rae Cook. The concert includes a wide range of timeless selections from opera repertoire, art songs, and more, sung by members of the Opera Workshop as well as faculty members.

FAMILY: 5k Trot for Autism
Saturday, 9 a.m.

If you want to get outside and enjoy the sun while also helping others, sign up for this fantastic race happening in Lewiston. In addition to the fun 5K timed race/walk, there will also be a kid’s fun run and a bounce house. The event benefits Margaret Murphy Center for Children, a special non-profit school for children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.

THEATER: As You Like It
Sunday, 6:30 p.m.

Known as one of the great comedies by William Shakespeare, As You Like It tells the tale of heroine Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke, who falls in love with Orlando, the disinherited son of one of the duke’s friends. This performance takes place outdoors and guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, food, and bug spray. Actors are not amplified, so arrive early for a close seat.

SPORTS: Portland Sea Dogs vs. Reading Fightin’ Phils
Monday, 7 p.m.

The Fightin’ Phils from Reading, Penn., come up to Maine to face off against the Portland Sea Dogs. This is the first of four games to be played between these two opponents (a doubleheader Tuesday and a single game Wednesday), so come grab a hotdog and cheer for the home team that’s sure to set the bar high in this initial matchup.

MUSIC: Band of Horses
Wednesday, 8 p.m.

Grammy Award-nominated musical extravaganza Band of Horses brings their American rock music to State Theatre. Although most known for their 2010 album Infinite Arms (the very album for which the band received its Grammy nomination), they will be playing a mix of music from both past and current albums, the most recent being Mirage Rock.

MUSIC: Derek Wilkinson Band
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Heart of Biddeford hosts a summer of great free concerts in Shevenell Park every Wednesday night, but there are only three more concerts left in the series. Today’s concert features the Derek Wilkinson Band, a Saco-raised band that’s now part of the crew running Bottom of the River Sound in the North Dam Mill.
