The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for El Faro survivors at sunset Wednesday night.

Please keep the families of not only the four Mainers, but all of the crew in your thoughts.

Homework: Landscaping your house

Homework: Landscaping your house story image
SCARBOROUGH (WPFO) -- Making your home "pop."  In this week's "Homework" we take a look at some of the easy and simple steps to make your landscaping stand out.

First thing is elevate your flower beds.  It makes your plants, flowers and bushes more visible from the street.

If you're looking at what to put in your flowerbed, the experts at "Go Green" say Hostas is a perfect one to start with in Maine.  But no matter which plants you go with, make sure and give them plenty of spacing.

Around those plants and flowers, you need mulch.  An inch and a half to two inch layer makes your flowerbed look better and at the same time, feeds your plants.

Stones around flowerbeds and trees, like much like mulch serves as a duel purpose as well.  Stones make everything look better and they can hold the mulch or compost in the bed and keep if from eroding

Also important is a stone drip edge.  If you don't have gutters, this is a great way to keep the rain from washing away your mulch and splashing your house.Homework: Landscaping your house
